HARRISBURG – State Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) was appointed to serve on four House committees during the 2019-20 legislative session. She will serve on the House Aging and Older Adult Services, Health, Labor and Industry, and State Government committees.
“I look forward to getting to work serving on the committees. Each holds a special importance to me,” Keefer said. “I am glad to be returning to the Health, Aging and Older Adult Services, and Labor and Industry committees and am excited for the opportunity to serve on the State Government Committee.”
The Labor and Industry Committee focuses on issues impacting jobs across the state. Legislation the committee deals with includes unemployment compensation, job training, child labor laws, workers’ compensation and the Prevailing Wage Act. The State Government Committee is responsible for reviewing legislation dealing with all aspects of state government, including proposed constitutional amendments, statewide initiatives and referenda, the Regulatory Review Act, legislative redistricting, Election Code reform, lobbyist disclosure and campaign financing.
“As a strong proponent of reducing unneeded regulations, I am particularly looking forward to serving on the State Government Committee,” Keefer said.
The Aging and Older Adult Services Committee is responsible for all programs and services offered to residents under the State Lottery Law, such as PACE/PACENET and senior transportation programs. The Health Committee focuses on issues such as disease management, health savings accounts, hospital-acquired infections, Medical Assistance, patient safety, pharmaceutical issues and much more.
