DILLSBURG –Rep. Dawn Keefer’s (R-Dillsburg) today announced the speaker for her free annual Farmer’s Breakfast. The speaker will be Jennifer Reed-Harry, an assistant vice president at PennAg Industries Association. She will speak about water issues the agricultural industry is facing.
The breakfast, sponsored by PennAg Industries Association and Seneca Foods, will be held at the Wellsville Fire Company, 95 Community St., Wellsville, on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 8-10 a.m.
“This is a great event for folks in the farming industry to learn about the efforts the General Assembly has taken to help Pennsylvania’s agriculture grow. We will also discuss issues farmers are facing,” Keefer said.
So far this session, House members have led efforts to help Pennsylvania agriculture grow by passing numerous bills, most of which have become law. These laws, among other things, address several current challenges facing our farmers by creating a special account to help fund the state’s response to threats to livestock or crops and provides technical and financial support to farmers for implementing best management practices. The laws also address the future of farming by reviving programs to educate school children about the importance of agriculture and healthy eating and raising awareness about career opportunities in the industry.
