DILLSBURG – Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) has teamed up with state officials and local law enforcement to host Scam Jam, an educational seminar that presents information about scams and how to prevent becoming a victim in a fun, easy-to-understand manner. The event will be held at the Fairview Township Office, located at 599 Lewisberry Road, New Cumberland, on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 2-4 p.m.

“I urge residents of all ages to attend this event. Scammers don’t target people of just certain age brackets or income levels, they target everyone,” Keefer said. “Scammers use various means and technologies to do harm. We must combat these people and the first step toward defeating scams is prevention.”

Attendees of this free event will hear directly from experts on efforts they can take to avoid becoming a victim of scams. They will learn about scams through interactive presentations, such as fraud bingo. Prizes will be awarded.

Joining Keefer for this event are officials from the Fairview Township Police Department, the York County District Attorney’s Office, and the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities.

To register, call Keefer’s office at 717-432-0792, or go to her website, RepKeefer.com.
