Many of our constituents have contacted us recently expressing concern and frustration with a new storm water fee being imposed by their municipalities. While this is not a new issue generally speaking, we are equally concerned as more and more municipalities choose to impose a fee on their residents in response to clean water mandates coming down from the Federal government.
HARRISBURG – Reps. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) and Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) issued the following statement in response to the deaths of 34-year-old Jerome Guise, a firefighter with Citizen Fire Company in Mount Holly Springs, and a woman in a house that was on fire early this morning:

HARRISBURG – Five local schools are receiving grants totaling $175,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education today to expand computer science programs for students, according to members of the PA General Assembly’s York County Republican delegation.

HARRISBURG – The York County House Republican delegation announced today that the York County School of Technology is the recipient of a $50,000 grant to improve career and technical education (CTE).

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania property owners now have another option to post notices prohibiting trespassing on their land after Rep. Dawn Keefer’s (R-Dillsburg) House Bill 1772 was signed into law. The law allows property owners to use purple paint in lieu of traditional signs.

I’ve written and spoken about Pennsylvania’s budget many times. We know the issues; there is never enough money regardless of how much revenue is generated and Pennsylvania’s spending perpetually outpaces the economy of our state.

HARRISBURG – Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) today unveiled new legislation to increase criminal penalties for people convicted of aiding or encouraging another person to commit suicide.
WHAT: Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) will discuss her bill called Shawn’s Law in honor of Shawn Shatto, who killed herself after she received a step-by-step guide on how to commit suicide from an online chat forum. Keefer’s bill would increase criminal penalties on those who encourage another person to commit suicide.
I was horrified to read news articles about people who assist and encourage others to commit suicide. There is no way I can even begin to understand what goes through someone’s mind when he or she encourages or aids another person to commit suicide.
