HARRISBURG – In response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s announcement that he has unilaterally decided Pennsylvania will join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) issued the following statement:
HARRISBURG – Reforming school property taxes has been the talk of the General Assembly for decades with numerous proposals put forth. However, mustering the needed votes in the House and Senate for reform has remained elusive.
HARRISBURG – Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) today unveiled new legislation to increase criminal penalties for people convicted of aiding or encouraging another person to commit suicide.
WHAT: Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) will discuss her bill called Shawn’s Law in honor of Shawn Shatto, who killed herself after she received a step-by-step guide on how to commit suicide from an online chat forum. Keefer’s bill would increase criminal penalties on those who encourage another person to commit suicide.
I was horrified to read news articles about people who assist and encourage others to commit suicide. There is no way I can even begin to understand what goes through someone’s mind when he or she encourages or aids another person to commit suicide.

For years, if not decades, people have urged the Pennsylvania General Assembly to come up with a viable solution for relief from school property taxes that are forcing senior citizens out of their homes. But their appeals appeared to fall on deaf ears. Believe me, I know the frustration as I was one of those people asking my elected officials to fix this problem.

HARRISBURG – York County Republican legislators are accusing Gov. Tom Wolf of heeding party wishes over the needs of Pennsylvania’s cash-strapped counties by vetoing much-needed election reform legislation today. Wolf’s decision to reject Senate Bill 48 kills efforts to help local governments with the cost of the 2020 election - after he unilaterally decertified all of the state’s voting machines - and do away with the antiquated straight-party voting option at polling places.
HARRISBURG – York County is about to be the beneficiary of a record windfall of more than $485,000 from the collection of an impact fee on natural gas drilling activities in other regions of Pennsylvania, according to members of the county’s House Republican delegation. Distribution of revenue will take place in early July.

HARRISBURG – With REAL IDs about to be made available in Pennsylvania, Rep. Dawn Keefer (R-York/Cumberland) will host an event to assist residents with pre-verifying documents required to obtain a REAL ID. The event will be held in the cafeteria Northern High School, 653 S. As I sat in my seat on the House floor and listened to Gov. Tom Wolf deliver his budget address, I was shocked to hear him not only acknowledge but also learn he plans to transfer funds from “shadow budget” accounts to fund his proposed spending as part of the 2019-20 state budget.
